About this travel presentation

Peru lies slung on the western hip of South America like a Quechuan baby, blanket- bound to its mother’s back, and though anchored in the equatorial doldrums, it can be a noisy little character at times.

It is a place of sharp class distinctions along ethnic and eco-nomic lines where the people hug and kiss each other a lot, are friendly to foreigners and where politics is a mixture of religion, entertainment and flim-flam. For two old hippies from BC, it’s just like home with a Spanish flavour.

Beverly and I are here in Chiclayo in northern coastal Peru paying for our sightseeing by teaching English. These slides will take you across the land and through our classrooms to some amazing people doing amazing work in the poorest areas.
